I think this looks like a potentially great product. I have tried to connect my USB Alesis electric drum kit to my ipad with no success, but this might solve the problem. My other option was the Alesis trigger i/o dock which is more then 3 times the suggest cost of this.

@Kevin - thanks for your comment, yeah the IODock is tempting us too but of course it also has multiple (MIDI/non-MIDI) inputs. Don't think it has USB input on iRig MIDI though, just mini-USB for power, so we are assuming you have MIDI out too?
