iWeb is a website creation application for the Mac that belongs to the iLife suite. iWeb is both powerful and flexible, especially for those that have very little understanding of the raw code that underpins the Web.
Patently Apple have recently unearthed a sentence in a patent application that suggests that iWeb for iPad is all but complete. When listing the apps that have been designed to work with gestures and more specifically touch screen displays, iWeb can be found alongside Keynote, Pages and Numbers. A mistake or a signal that Apple plan to bring the entire iLife and iWork suites to the iPad? We have already given our thoughts on this missing version of iPhoto for the iPad, now after this leak it looks like iWeb is on its way too.
The biggest beef that we have with iWeb for the Mac is that Apple stopped developing it some time ago. The foundations are in place for a truly intuitive website creation tool and bringing it to the most intuitive computer yet seems like a smart move to us. Like iPhoto, we are expecting it to hit the App Store sometime within the next 12 months.
Here are a couple of examples of what iWeb for the Mac is capable of:
Anglebury Press. I simple small business website created completely from scratch using only iWeb and some stock photography and illustrations.
Nokia Creative. A popular blog powered by iWeb and Mobile Me.
