The 2002 iMac G4 is one of Jonathan Ives' most daring and beautiful designs. Though the extra expense involved in manufacturing the elegant anglepoise inspired neck meant that the design didn't remain in Apple's portfolio for too long, there was no denying however that it was an attractive and highly useful solution.

The Flote, a floor stand for tablet devices, reminds us in many ways of the elegant simplicity of the iMac G4.

Being able to freely position your iPad to almost any usable height and angle will surely appeal to musicians and artists alike. We can also see the Flote becoming an essential item for many disabled iPad users. The video above - which is a labour of love in its own right - contains many more use cases.

Head on over to the Flote Kickstarter page for more information and to show your support for the project.
