Gorillaz Preview 'Made-on-an-iPad' album
Fri, December 24, 2010 at 10:15 PM As you may already know, the new album from cartoon rockstars Gorillaz, entitled The Fall has been 'made on an iPad' and there has been much anticipation of the album release. The 15 iPad composed tracks are described as a 'musical diary' recorded during the Gorillaz recent 32 day North American tour, reflecting the sounds and experiences of the places they visited.
The track in the video above, 'Phoner to Arizona' is the first track off the album and has been released today as a sneak peek. Tomorrow, paid subscribers to Gorillaz fan club Sub Division will be able to download the album for free, but even if you are not a member of the fan club you will be able to stream all 15 tracks from tomorrow here.
We are looking forward to hearing the rest of the tracks, but at the moment we are reminded of a BTTF quote, "That's very interesting music, Marty".

I have to admit, I've never been a Gorillaz fan and it's been years since I last heard a Gorillaz tune, but this tune is just dull. Hopefully the rest of the album is better. I do wonder what apps Albarn used, though.
Just finished listening to the whole album and I quite liked it. I found the last album to be quite a grower, a little disappointed at first and gradually sneaking into my faves of the year, so I may become even more fond of it over time.
A list of iPad apps used is provided on the streaming page. They also did some additional recording but it doesn't seem like a lot.
Sleep & ericthegardener: Thanks for your comments, we've added a new post with some of our thoughts and a list of the apps from the Gorillaz site and we have also added links for all but one of the apps so you can check them out.
We agree that it is probably a grower, except perhaps Track 15! :-)
